La Germania e le elezioni europee del 2024. Il caso AfD: prospettive e sviluppi

Abstract
Nell’ultimo decennio lo scenario politico tedesco è stato sconvolto dall’arrivo di Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), il partito di estrema destra che in soli dieci anni è riuscito a ottenere popolarità e risultati assolutamente inediti per un movimento del genere nella storia recente della Germania. Utilizzando come punto focale le elezioni europee del giugno 2024, in questo paper si cercherà di ricostruire l’ascesa di AfD e di analizzarne il percorso e i possibili sviluppi, mettendoli in relazione con il panorama continentale e le prospettive future su questo livello. Nel primo paragrafo verrà brevemente delineata la storia di AfD, con particolare attenzione ai costanti slittamenti sempre più a destra che ne hanno costellato i primi dieci anni di vita. Nel secondo ci si concentrerà sul modo in cui AfD arriva alle elezioni europee di giugno, prendendo in esame alcuni aspetti centrali come il candidato capolista e il programma. Infine nella conclusione si analizzeranno i possibili sviluppi sul piano continentale, avanzando l’ipotesi che AfD rappresenti il candidato più credibile nella corsa a issarsi alla testa dei movimenti populisti di estrema destra in Europa.
