Europe Day 2018
Wednesday, 9 May 2018 – 10.00 am, Plenary Room ‘Gabriele De Rosa’
The Center for European Studies (www.centrostudieuropei.it), as part of the activities of the Jean Monnet Becoming Europeans: the Social Dimension of European Integration Module, both directed by prof. Massimo Pendenza, in collaboration with the Department of Political, Social and Communication Sciences (UniSa), organizes the fourth edition of the Europe Day.
This year’s guest is Gianfranco Pasquino (Emeritus Professor of Political Science of the University of Bologna), who will hold a Lectio Magistralis entitled THE EUROPE THAT EXISTS, THE EUROPE THAT WILL BE / L’EUROPA CHE C’È, L’EUROPA CHE CI SARÀ.
The lesson will be preceded by the institutional greetings of Annibale Elia (Director of the Department) and Francesco Amoretti (President of the Didactic Council of Political Sciences) and introduced by Massimo Pendenza.
Before the lesson, a String and Voice Quartet composed by the Masters of the Liceo Musicale Alfano I of Salerno will cheer the audience by playing the Hymn to Joy. Since 1972, the melody, taken from the Ninth symphony composed in 1823 by Ludwig van Beethoven who put Friedrich von Schiller’s ode to music in 1785, has been used by the EU as its own anthem.
